Pedal Harp
Gwen enjoys a busy and varied freelance career based in Glasgow. The orchestras she has played with include the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, the Scottish Festival Orchestra, the Scottish Concert Orchestra and many others. She has also performed with Katherine Jenkins and Kanye West.
Her Lyon and Healy style 85 pedal harp which has been developing a career of its own since being hired to be played by the internationally-renowned Russian harpist, Natalia Shameyeva as well as contemporary harpists.
Clàrsach
It was the clàrsach which Gwen first had lessons on before moving to the pedal harp and she will be starting a post-graduate diploma in clàrsach at the RSAMD in the autumn of 2010. Having grown up with a Scottish father and a Welsh mother, she plays music from both coltures and arranges it in her own style. As a fluent Welsh speaker she also sings in Welsh and is learning Gaelic which may lead to Gaelic singing appearing in her repertoire!
Gwen plays her brand new Starfish Glenelle as well as the Pilgrim clàrsach which she has had since she was a teenager.
